Useful things to have in your Campervan that you might not have thought of.
We are well and truly in the swing of full-time vanlife now. We already knew it, but already really appreciate how much easier vanlife life is in the dry weather. Rain or shine though, there are some weird and wonderful things that we just can’t live without. Some things make life much easier, some help solve a problem and some help us feel safer to be on the road. Regardless, they are all essentials in our van.
Useful things to have in your van!
Cable ties - we can’t tell you how many times we have used these when out and about in the van. If something needs fixing or securing, then 9 times out of 10 a cable tie will do the job.
Electrical tape / duck tape - if something can’t be fixed with cable ties, then duck tape or even electrical tape is our next go to. I have been known to secure fairy lights with electrical tape!
Bungee ties - always useful to secure things in place, or fasten things together.
Two-part adhesive glue - this stuff sticks like cement! If something keeps unattaching itself, then this stuff sorts it out.
Tool kit / socket set and screw drivers - really useful for tightening things up and/or altering things.
Tyre inflator - you never know! Better to be safe than sorry!
USB Emergency start pack - an expensive essential, but one that could seriously get you out of a spot of bother if you end up with a flat battery!
An axe! Often the firewood you buy on campsites or petrol stations is too big. It is surprising how many times we have used it, so if you enjoy a campfire it is worth investing in one.
Feeding a family on the road is like at home - a never ending task! You can find some camping meal inspiration here, but some of my favourite camping cooking essentials that make cooking easier on the road are: the RidgeMonkey XL and the Cadac 2Cook 2Pro. You can read a full review of the Cadac 2 Cook 2 Pro here. Both of these are essentials in our van.
There are many several other essentials we have in our campervan to make it a home-on-wheels for our family, including WIFI and solar panels. You can read more how we set up our van for full-time vanlife here.
